What is the trial pool?
Cualify partners with Bolna (our voice infrastructure provider). Bolna maintains a pool of shared phone numbers — backed by Twilio — that any trial-mode account can dial from. When you don't have your own Exotel or Plivo connected, Cualify automatically uses this pool.
This means you can test the full product — agent provisioning, voice quality, language switching, call recording, analytics — without registering your business, passing KYC, or topping up any wallet.
Limitations to know
- Verified recipients only. The trial pool can only dial numbers you've verified on Bolna's platform. This is anti-spam protection — without it, free trials would mass-dial random numbers.
- US caller ID. Trial pool numbers are Twilio US numbers (e.g.
+1 415 555 xxxx). Your recipient sees a US number on their caller ID. Most people answer anyway, but warn them in advance during demos. - Lower priority routing. Trial calls share infrastructure with all other free accounts. Latency is fine for testing but can spike during peak hours.
- No call recording for some carriers. Indian carriers occasionally block recordings from foreign caller IDs. Use Exotel for production if recording is critical.
How to add a verified number
- Sign in at platform.bolna.ai/verified-phone-numbers (use the same email as Cualify)
- Click "Verify phone number"
- Enter the phone in E.164 format (e.g.
+919812345678) - Bolna texts you an OTP — enter it to confirm
- The number shows up as Active — you can now call it from Cualify
You can verify up to 5 numbers in trial mode. If you need more, upgrade your Bolna account or connect Exotel (which has no per-number cap).
When to upgrade to Exotel
Move to Exotel (or another carrier) when:
- You're ready to dial leads (numbers you haven't verified)
- You want an Indian caller ID for better answer rates
- You need production-grade call recording
- You're running campaigns > 100 calls / day
Until then, the trial pool covers test calls, prompt iteration, and small internal demos perfectly.
