“I spent a year inside India's lending stack — watching NBFCs miss EMI follow-ups before lunch, watching ₹50,000 ticket sizes vanish because the third dial never connected. The gap isn't in the credit model; it's in the dial tone. Cualify dials in twenty-two languages, at compliance-grade quality, for ₹6 a minute — so the next call lands before the lead goes cold.

Utsav trained as a mechanical engineer in Mumbai (VCET, 2019) and spent two and a half years running operations at Ajanta Agencies — the kind of frontline SMB role where the founder, the warehouse, and the field team are all one WhatsApp group. That ground truth shapes every product decision we make.

He earned his MBA at FMS Delhi (Class of 2023) — one of India's most selective B-schools — and joined CarDekho Group as Deputy Manager, Strategy, where he worked on the fintech arm of the auto-marketplace giant. Personal-loan products, risk assessment, regulatory compliance, partner channels — the same surface area that Indian SMBs in BFSI, NBFC, and lending wrestle with every day.

At Cualify he owns pricing, partnerships, and the compliance posture that lets banks and NBFCs onboard us without an internal audit fight. The product roadmap reflects his bet: AI voice infrastructure that earns its way into the regulated parts of the Indian economy first — collections, KYC, customer support — and earns trust by being boring about the parts that have to be boring.

How we operate

Three operating principles. Non-negotiable.

Customer-funded

We bootstrap. The first ₹100 of revenue funds the next ₹100 of build. Pricing reflects actual cost-of-goods, not burn-rate math. No VC-funded freebies that vanish next quarter.

India-first, not India-only

Mumbai data residency. Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali by default. INR billing with GST and TDS. LATAM and SEA expansions are on the 2027 map — never at the cost of the Indian build.

Building in public

Status page, changelog, security incidents, sub-processor list — all public. We'd rather lose a deal than ship surprise downtime. The newsletter shares the actual pitfalls each month.

  1. Q1 2026

    First line of code. Mumbai-resident architecture decision: Postgres + RLS, Mumbai region, no PII leaves India.

  2. Q2 2026

    Public launch on cualify.in with Pilot, Starter, Growth, Scale plans. Razorpay billing live. First five pilot customers.

  3. Q3 2026

    DPDP Act compliance audit. SOC 2 Type I assessment kicks off. Custom voice clone goes live for Scale customers.

  4. Q4 2026

    ₹10 lakh MRR target. Annual third-party penetration test. Inbound IVR + handoff for Starter and above.

  5. 2027

    SOC 2 Type II certification. SEA / LATAM expansion conditional on India momentum. Vernacular support for Odia, Assamese, Bhojpuri.
